A self-help kit about neighbourhood tree disputes.
This kit is current at 1 February 2017
The Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011 (Qld) provides that trees must be properly cared for and safely maintained. This kit explains the laws about resolving disputes, trimming trees and obtaining orders about trees. It also sets out a special process for giving notices about tree problems.
You can learn about who is responsible for maintaining a tree and read about the options you have if a tree dispute with your neighbour arises. The kit also sets out the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and court procedures.
