Juliana Virine is a senior associate at Hall Payne Lawyers. She is committed to social justice and brings this to her practice in unfair dismissal, general protections, discrimination, sexual harassment, freedom of association matters and industrial litigation.
Prior to joining Hall Payne Lawyers, she was an industrial officer at two of the largest unions in Queensland, and the Women’s Officer and Industrial Officer for Queensland’s peak union body, the Queensland Council of Unions. As a result, Juliana has extensive experience in assisting workers in both individual and collective employment disputes, as well as an in-depth understanding of public sector governance, processes and policies. She has also worked for the Queensland Government in the area of workplace bullying and harassment management, and prevention.
Juliana is also passionate about community organisations and ensuring equal access to the law; she is a volunteer solicitor at Caxton Legal Centre’s Employment Law Clinic; a member of the trade union aid foundation and a founding member of Queer Rights at Work, an advocacy group promoting the rights of LGBTIQ workers.
